INFORMATION ABOUT THE TRAINING

Place: Online

Background

Companies face increasing expectations to demonstrate how they identify and address human rights and labour risks in their supply chains – from legislation, customers and stakeholders. Effective due diligence is also an essential part of responsible business practice and helps companies to build stable and resilient supply chains.

To ensure due diligence becomes embedded across the organisation, several functions need to be involved, including sustainability, buying, quality, and production teams. This course provides the foundational understanding needed to contribute meaningfully to this work.

About the course

This course provides an introduction to due diligence and how companies can address human rights and environmental issues in their supply chains. The training is based on internationally recognised standards, including the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) and the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Business Conduct, as well as relevant EU legislation.

We will explore the six steps of the due diligence process, with a particular focus on how companies identify, prioritise and address risks. Through practical examples and group exercises, participants will gain a foundational understanding of how due diligence can be applied in practice.

Topics covered include:

  • The fundamentals of due diligence and corporate responsibility for human rights
  • How companies can identify and prioritise risks
  • How companies can prevent, mitigate and monitor adverse impacts
  • Relevant sustainability legislation and what the requirements mean in practice

Target audience

This training is intended for professionals who are involved in, or affected by, their company’s due diligence work and who want to gain a foundational understanding of how risks to people and the environment can be identified, prevented and addressed in the supply chain.

The course is relevant for individuals across different functions who contribute to work related to supply chains, product development, sustainability, quality management and production.
