Background
Companies face increasing expectations to demonstrate how they identify and address human rights and labour risks in their supply chains – from legislation, customers and stakeholders. Effective due diligence is also an essential part of responsible business practice and helps companies to build stable and resilient supply chains.
To ensure due diligence becomes embedded across the organisation, several functions need to be involved, including sustainability, buying, quality, and production teams. This course provides the foundational understanding needed to contribute meaningfully to this work.
About the course
During the course, you will gain an understanding of what due diligence is and how to work with it in practice, following the international standards of the UN Guiding Principles and OECD Guidelines, as well as upcoming EU legislation.
We will go through the six steps of the due diligence process, with emphasis on the most critical areas. You will receive practical tools and examples, and you will put your learning into practice in group exercises.
Topics covered:
- How to identify and prioritise human rights and environmental risks
- How to prevent, mitigate, and follow up on adverse impacts
- How to involve and engage stakeholders throughout the process
- Key legislative developments, including the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD)
Target audience
This training is suitable for professionals working with suppliers in purchasing, product development, sustainability, quality or related roles.
If you are responsible for the company’s human rights and supply chain sustainability work, we recommend our longer full-day training course. For more information, see trainings.

The course is free of charge for members of Ethical Trade Sweden. For non-members there is a course fee of 3 000 SEK. An invoice will be sent before the course.
