Human Rights Due Diligence Through the Eyes of Producers

Join this webinar, co-hosted by Ethical Trade Sweden and Fairtrade Sweden, to hear directly from producers about the opportunities and challenges they face in meeting sustainability and due diligence requirements. Through an interactive panel discussion, you will gain valuable insights into how companies and other supply chain actors can strengthen collaboration and support more effective and equitable implementation of human rights due diligence.

Background

Global supply chains are facing increasing expectations related to sustainability, human rights and environmental due diligence (HREDD). New and emerging legislation, reporting requirements, certification standards, and buyer expectations place growing demands on producers and farmers around the world.

While much of the discussion on due diligence focuses on the responsibilities of companies and buyers, the perspectives of producers are often underrepresented. Producers are expected to comply with a growing number of requirements while simultaneously managing challenges such as climate change, volatile commodity prices, rising input costs, labour shortages, and limited access to financing and technical support.

To build more effective and equitable supply chains, it is essential that producers themselves are heard and that their experiences help inform how due diligence and sustainability requirements are implemented in practice.

About the webinar

The webinar aims to create a space where producers can share their experiences directly with buyers and other stakeholders.

Participants will gain a better understanding of:

• How producers experience current sustainability and due diligence requirements.
• The practical challenges producers face in meeting these expectations.
• The investments, knowledge, and support needed to enable sustainable production.
• How companies and other actors in supply chains can contribute to more effective and equitable implementation of due diligence and sustainability initiatives.

The webinar will also provide participants with an opportunity to engage directly with producers through a moderated discussion and Q&A session.
